IDEM to welcome Two Herons Marina into Clean Marina Program

BLOOMINGTON – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will recognize Two Herons Marina as the newest member of the Indiana Clean Marina Program.

In addition, the Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA), which joined the program in 2020, will be recognized for its renewal as a member of the program.

 The Clean Marina Program is voluntary and encourages marina operators and recreational boaters to protect water quality and habitat by engaging in environmentally sound operating and maintenance practices. 

IDEM’s Office of Program Support Assistant Commissioner Bob Lugar will present Two Herons Marina and LMSA with a flag and certificate. Two Herons Marina is the seventh marina in Indiana to be designated as a Clean Marina, and the second on an inland lake.

The event will be Thursday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. EDT at Two Herons Marina on State Road 445 in Bloomington.

About the Clean Marina Program  The Clean Marina Program – The Indiana Clean Marina Program protects the state’s inland and coastal waterways by reducing the potential environmental impacts associated with marinas and recreational boating. The Program provides information, technical assistance, and guidance to marinas and recreational boaters. By participating in this voluntary program, marinas, boatyards, yacht clubs, and recreational boaters are recognized for their environmental stewardship.
