FORT WAYNE —The office of Rep. Jim Banks is encouraging high school seniors in Indiana’s Third Congressional District to apply for one of the four U.S. Service academies – the United States Air Force Academy, United States Military Academy, United States Naval Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
To be considered for a nomination, applicants must be legal residents of the Third Congressional District of Indiana. The office will accept applications from candidates who graduate high school in 2023 or those who have already graduated. To be considered for the graduating class of 2027, applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
- Be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents
- Must be a United States citizen and a legal resident of the Third Congressional District
- Must be at least 17 years old but not yet 23 years old (as of July 1st the year of admission)
All information must be submitted to the office of Rep. Jim Banks no later than Friday, October 14, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. for those interested in entering one of the service academies for the class of 2027.
