Lawrence County Distinguished Young Woman looking for applicants

BEDFORD – Applications for the Annual Lawrence County Distinguished Young Woman competition are open until Monday, October 3rd.

Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women is the largest and oldest national scholarship program for high school girls. It has provided life-changing experiences for more than 775,000 young women across the country and more than $112 million in cash scholarships at the local, state, and national levels. In addition to cash scholarships, Distinguished Young Women participants are eligible for college-granted scholarships from over 100 colleges and universities.

Distinguished Young Women of Lawrence County is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership, and talent in young women. It is a unique program that offers Life Skills training to prepare young women for life after high school.

Local winners will advance to the state program in Kokomo, Indiana where they give away more than $28,000 in cash tuition scholarships. The young women will be judged in five categories: Scholastic achievement (25%), judges’ interview (25%), creative and performing arts (20%), fitness (15%), and self-expression (15%).

This event provides a great opportunity for young women to:

  • Make new friends from around their area
  • Participate in workshops on interviewing, public speaking and more
  • Have fun putting on a showcase of their achievements
  • PLUS help pay for their college education!

Apply here before October, 3rd for your chance to be named the 2022 Lawrence County Distinguished Young Woman.
