Washington Police investigating a fatal accident

 WASHINGTON – A fatal crash Wednesday afternoon in the southbound lane of I-69 in Washington remains under investigation.

The accident was reported at 4:32 p.m.

When police arrived they found a Ford Econoline van had left the road and rolled over multiple times. They found one of the occupants had been ejected from the van and was found laying in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, the male was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female occupant was trapped inside the vehicle. Once removed, she was transported by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital.

No other information is being released at this time.

Washington police, Indiana State Police, Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies, Daviess Community Hospital Ambulance Service, and the Daviess County coroner’s office were at the scene.

Indiana State Police accident reconstructionist also assisted at the scene.
