Second-half surge powers NA past BNL

NEW ALBANY – New Albany scored three goals in a five-minute span of the second half while pulling away from Bedford North Lawrence 5-0 during boys high school soccer action on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (4-2-1 overall, 1-0-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) scored early and maintained that 1-0 lead until exploding midway through the second half. Davis Barber, Davis Krebs and Jack Moutadier all found the net for the breakaway goals.

New Albany scored 90 seconds into the match on Colin Thurston’s quick shot. The Bulldogs extended the margin with Moutadier’s first goal seven minutes into the second half. Eight minutes later, the eruption buried the Stars. New Albany owned a 15-8 shot advantage.

“We buckled down and played well in the first half after the first goal,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “We were right in it. In the second half, a combination of lack of communication and execution caught up to us. We need to regroup and get back into the form from the early season.”

The Stars (1-3-1, 0-1-0) will travel to Evansville Christian on Saturday.
