10th Annual Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest set to return in September

BLOOMINGTON – The 10th Annual Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest, in partnership with Shelby County Co-op, is set to return on Thursday, September 8th, through Saturday, September 10th at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, located at 5700 West Airport Road.

This all-ages event has activities for all during each day with a designated kid’s zone and adult zone for every adventure seeker. The cost of admission is $20 per vehicle on Thursday, and Friday to get in on all the fun. Saturday prices range from the Gold Section at $20 per person to the platinum section at $50 per person, with special seating for platinum members during the evening concert.

The Adults zone has activities for those 18 years and older that range from ax throwing, a mechanical bull, zipline, rock wall, and a toxic meltdown inflatable sweeper game. Activities for children can be found in the kid’s zone and include multiple games and activities including minions combo, classic bouncer, princess toddler, double lane classic slide, adrenaline rush obstacle course, putt-putt golf, sports combo bouncer, and the ballistic.

This event will also include the return of the Kiwanis Idol competition on Saturday at 1 p.m., with two categories, 17 and under, and 18 and older. The winners receive beautiful trophies, appearances throughout the year, radio interviews, and a free recording at Wisconsin Cheese Studios in Bloomington.

A giant kite exhibit will be on display each day throughout the entire event, Bear Hollow Wood Carving will be on site for live demonstrations and wooden marionette puppet shows. Each day will feature tethered balloon rides, and live music throughout the day, and vendors will be on-site as well to sell goods and items.

Thursday night will end with a pyrotechnic skydivers show, Friday will have a fireworks display, and Saturday will close out with a Bear Hollow Wood Carving Silent Auction. Vehicle parking will be available on the west side of the fairgrounds.
