Two women were arrested after a report of a woman changing her clothes in the middle of the street

BEDFORD -Two women were arrested on drug charges Wednesday after an off-duty dispatcher reported she witnessed a woman standing in the middle of the road changing her clothes in the 1140 block of M Street. The woman had gotten out of a “beat up” older model black passenger car.

Summer Terry

When officers arrived they found 25-year-old Summer Terry sitting alongside 12th Street on top of a duffle bag.

The officer asked if Terry had anything illegal in her bag. She replied, “there shouldn’t be anything” inside of her bag. She then allowed the officer to search her purse. In the purse, officers found a glass jar containing a  wax-like residue which later field tested positive for marijuana. In the duffle bag, the officer found two used syringes in the sleeve of a sweatshirt and a glass jar containing meth.

Terry was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of meth, and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction.

While on the scene an officer observed a black Honda Civic, consistent with the description of the vehicle the caller had reported traveling south on M Street.

Kayla Blackshear,

An officer stopped the vehicle after the driver, 40-year-old Kayla Blackshear, failed to stop for a stop sign at 13th and M streets. The officer also noticed the license plate was also partially obstructed.

While speaking with Blackshear the officer noticed a sword in the backseat and asked her to step out of the vehicle.

Canine Zazu alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle. Officers found a partially smoked hand-rolled marijuana cigarette in the vehicle.

Blackshear was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
