Kern named female Athlete of the Year

BNL three-sport standout Carlee Kern was named the female Athlete of the Year.

BEDFORD – Multi-sport senior Carlee Kern was named Bedford North Lawrence’s female Athlete of the Year by the WBIW.com website.

Kern, who shared the award last year, was a three-sport standout. In volleyball, she was named Honorable Mention All-Hoosier Hills Conference while leading the Stars in kills (130) and blocks (17). On the basketball court, she was a starter in the post, contributing 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game as BNL went 24-3 and won its 11th straight Class 4A sectional title. On the softball diamond, Kern started at shortstop and hit .263 while helping the Stars go 28-3 with conference and regional titles.

Other notable athletes who enjoyed outstanding years included Annie Waggoner (softball and volleyball), Ava Ratliff (softball), Grace Tanksley (cross country and track), Karsyn Norman (basketball), Chloe Spreen (basketball), Kenley Craig (golf and tennis), Mallory Pride (basketball and tennis), Lindley Steele (track), Emma Gabhart (swimming), Autumn Hall (track), Bella Stigall (tennis) and Braxton McCauley (softball).

WBIW.com will also name the male Athlete of the Year and list the Top 10 stories for the 2021-22 school season.

BNL’s Carlee Kern was a senior starter in basketball as the Stars went 24-3.
