Gov. Holcomb announces a judicial appointment for Lake County Superior Court

INDIANA – Gov. Eric J. Holcomb today announced Rehana Adat-Lopez as his appointment to the Lake County Superior Court. Ms. Adat-Lopez’s appointment results from the unexpected death of Judge Diane Ross Boswell who passed away Oct. 19, 2021.

Since 2013, Adat-Lopez has worked as the director and attorney for the Lake County CASA program, which assists in representing children in CHINS or TPR (termination of parental rights) proceedings. She also serves as a team member for the Family Recovery Court. Prior to her role with CASA, she worked as an attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services. Adat-Lopez has experience practicing as an attorney in private firms and as a sole practitioner.

Adat-Lopez received a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University and her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.     

Ms. Adat-Lopez will be sworn in as the Judge of the Lake County Superior Court on a date to be determined.
