Firefighters battled brush fire this morning

SPRINGVILLE – Firefighters from Perry and Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a brush fire in the 1200 block of Steve Earl Road this morning after a 911 call at 5:59 a.m.

The fire ignited after the homeowner was burning a pile of dead trees over the weekend and the strong winds this morning caused the coals to reignite. The winds then caused the fire to spread over approximately three acres into a field and nearby woods.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for today until 7:00 p.m. Firefighters say windy conditions make it dangerous to have controlled burns.
