Bedford Redevelopment Commission approves service payments

BEDFORD – During the Bedford Redevelopment Commission meeting Monday afternoon the commission approved multiple invoices related to the purchase of the old Aldi Building for the new Police Station.

Attorney Greg Pittman reached out to Barnes & Thornburg for legal services in the procedures to the acquisition of the building. A payment of $76.50 will be awarded to the Law Firm for their services.

The commission then discussed two invoices to be paid after receiving appraisals for the building from Mordoh & Associates for $3,500, while the other payment went to Kinser Appraisals LLC of $650. Both payments were approved by the committee.

Lastly, in preparation for acquiring the property, the commission decided to accept services to perform an environmental assessment by Bluemoose Environmental to ensure that the building is safe to proceed with renovation plans.

The purpose of the assessment is to look for any potential issues the property may present, though it is not a concern of the commission, who are wanting to cover all the bases with the purchase of a commercial property.

The assessment request was approved by the commission before adjourning.
