INDIANA – Indiana University School of Nursing, the state’s leader in nursing education, has appointed Wendy Miller, PhD, RN, CNS, CCRN, FAAN, FAES, as the associate dean of the Bloomington campus. Miller will replace Eileen Hacker, interim associate dean of IU School of Nursing Bloomington, starting March 1.
Miller joined IU School of Nursing’s full-time faculty in 2012, most recently serving as associate professor, PhD coordinator, and co-director of its National Institutes of Health-funded T32, an advanced training program that prepares nurse scientists to conduct research to develop and test self-management interventions for serious chronic conditions. Her program of research, which is funded by the National Library of Medicine at the NIH, is focused on chronic disease self-management, specifically epilepsy. Recently named director-at-large for the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, Miller also holds leadership positions with the Epilepsy Foundation and the American Epilepsy Society.
“Dr. Miller is a proven leader with a strong commitment to the leadership of nursing-centered and nursing-related research and scholarship,” said Robin Newhouse, dean of IU School of Nursing. “We look forward to her leadership in developing faculty and staff, supporting our students’ success, and improving the health of the communities we serve in southern and rural Indiana.”
A native of Bedford, Indiana, Miller attended IU School of Nursing Bloomington as an undergraduate and taught courses there for several years at the start of her career. She says returning to campus feels like coming home.
