Some Bedford residents and businesses have new trash haulers

BEDFORD – William and Lisa Mathews have decided to exit the trash business and sell certain waste collection assets of B&D Waste Disposal to Rumpke Waste & Recycling. Rumpke began servicing former B&D customers on January 29.

“For the past 22 years, Lisa and I have worked to grow our business by providing dependable trash service to our friends and neighbors. We sincerely thank everyone for their support, but it’s time for us to pursue something new,” said William Mathews, B&D Waste Disposal Owner. “Rumpke is a family business with 90 years of experience in the waste and recycling industry, and we are confident they will continue to provide B&D customers with a high level of service.”

Mathews added he has been working closely with Rumpke to ensure a seamless transition for customers, and rates and service days will initially remain unchanged.

“Rumpke has been serving southern Indiana customers for nearly 40 years, operating facilities in Medora, Columbus and Paoli, Indiana,” said Eric Curtis, region vice president, Rumpke Waste & Recycling. “We appreciate the opportunity to grow our presence in Bedford. B&D has set the bar high for their customers, and I’m confident that our team will provide our new customers with friendly, dependable service.”

Customers will receive a mailer soon from B&D Waste Disposal and Rumpke explaining additional details of the transition. In the meantime, if customers have questions, they can contact Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171.

Rumpke is one of the largest, family-owned and operated waste and recycling firms in the country, operating 14 landfills and 12 recycling centers, while employing nearly 3,600 people and serving 1.8 million customers throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.
