Bedford Housing Authority sets goals for 2022 during first meeting of the year

BEDFORD – During the Housing Authority meeting Thursday, Executive Director Bobbi Ames gave the board of commissioners an update for the start of 2022.

After the approval from the board, Ames fully anticipates $300,000 in Capital Funds for 2022 to go towards ongoing projects as well as plans for both the Hauck House Commons and Hamilton Courts.

Ames hopes to work on the following issues at both properties for 2022:

  • Place $64,000 in the operation/rainy day fund
  • Repaint porches at Hamilton Courts
  • Fix the roofs at buildings three, nine, 1134, and 1132
  • Replace mail receptacles at Hamilton Courts into one large receptacle in the community building
  • Landscaping efforts at both properties
  • Installation of more security cameras
  • Replacement of flooring in the Hauck House Commons main floor
  • Awning fixtures
  • Installation of WIFI in the community building at Hamilton Courts
  • Removal of chain-linked fencing at Hamilton Courts

Ames also shared the hiring of Susan Backherms as the Section 8 Coordinator and Stephanie Connolly as the In-Take specialist at the Hauck House Commons.

Additionally the water heaters at both properties are in the process of being replaced and using remaining Capital Fund money from 2021.

The next meeting for the Housing Authority is scheduled for Thursday, February 17th at 1:30 p.m.
