Community helps family after fire consumes a family’s home

WASHINGTON – At approximately 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Washington Township Fire Department responded to a house fire at Oakwood Mobile Home Park in Washington to find a home engulfed in flames.

Washington City Fire was immediately requested to provide additional manpower.

Firefighters were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire and prevent adjoining structures to go up in flames. Tanker assistance was provided by Veal Fire, Montgomery Fire, Cannelberg Fire, and Plainville Fire Departments.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Also assisting at the scene was the Daviess County Sheriff Department, Daviess County EMA, and Daviess County EMS.

On Sunday, members of the Washington Firefighters Local 49, the Washington Fire Department, and the Washington Township Fire Department, along with family members who lost everything in the fire went to Walmart to obtain clothing and other necessities.
