Pekin woman found unresponsive in field, later dies

PEKIN – A Pekin woman was found unresponsive in a field at approximately 7:53 p.m. on Thursday, September 16th.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the area of 50 East Mill Street in Pekin The unresponsive female was found by a neighbor, lying in a grass field.

A neighbor called 911, while her father began to perform CPR on the female, who was later identified as 41-year-old Tammy Weidner, of Pekin. Weidner was transported to St. Vincent Salem Hospital by Washington County Ambulance Service. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sheriff Brent Miller requested assistance from detectives and crime scene investigators with the Indiana State Police.

Video surveillance was obtained from the area and reviewed by investigators. Police later determined that Weidner died from natural causes.

Sergeant Matt Hein is the lead investigator and was assisted by Deputy Tory Hildreth, Sheriff Brent Miller, Indiana State Police, Pekin Town Marshal Jeff Thomas, Washington County Ambulance Service, Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department, and the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
