BEDFORD – Students who are getting ready to head back to school on August 4th were treated to fun, food, and school supplies at a Back to School Carnival hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County Tuesday evening.

The parents of the students were thankful to the many organizations that helped sponsor the event.

“This time of year is very difficult for our family financially with three kids, and events like this help us, it really does,” said one of the parents, who wish not to be identified for this story.

Children enjoyed participating in games and dunking the staff of the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County who took turns in the dunking booth.

The Lions Club offered eyesight testing during the event. Those attending feasted on hot dogs, popcorn, and cold drinks.

Students who attended took home a new backpack filled with needed school supplies or just supplies if they already had a backback. This is an annual event and is open to the general public. This years event had nearly 150 attendees.
