BEDFORD – Damon Norman, 21, of Bedford was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with theft.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on July 3, Bedford Police officers were alerted to a stolen cell phone.
The woman told the police her cell phone was stolen by her grandson Damon Norman.
She said Norman had arrived at her home asking for money for a hotel room because he had been evicted from where he lived.
After Norman’s departure, she discovered her phone was missing. She estimated the value of the Samsung Galaxy phone around $400.
The woman told police she felt she needed to file charges because he had stolen from her in the past.
At approximately 1:42 a.m. on July 4th, Bedford Police Department Dispatch received a 911 call from the woman who stated she was with Norman at Circle K and he had her stolen phone.Â
When police arrived Norman had fled.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Norman’s arrest.
