BEDFORD – Logan Barrett, no stranger to the Limestone 5K, has competed in the local race at least six times. Logan finished this past Saturday’s race in just under record time, 14 minutes and 54 seconds.
Barrett’s time just may be the record for the event, Barett has been competing off and on since 2008 in the local race.
Mandy Schaeffer was the overall female runner whose time was at 20 minutes and 42 seconds.
On Saturday approximately 120 runners and walkers took part in the event to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Money raised from the event will be used to help with the club’s programs. This will allow area youth to take part in the programs, which many are not able to afford.
Many local businesses help sponsor the event such as Agriculture Stone who provided the awards for the events. Refreshments were provided to the race participants to include watermelon, cookies, and drinks.
Community volunteers assumed roles such as helping with the registration process or helping to mann the various cooling stations throughout the course. Participants of all ages took part in the event to help accomplish the needs and goals of the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Most of all, it was a fun event that provided good exercise to promote good health for many in our community.
