Ferency was able to return fire at Meehan but died from his injuries.

An FBI Special Agent came out of the building and got into a shootout with Meehan. Officials say Meehan was shot twice before he got into his truck and took off.

A short time later, Meehan and his truck were found at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Meehan was receiving treatment for his gunshot wounds and was in surgery.

Officials said a gun, Molotov Cocktails, and more ammo were found inside of his truck.

Meehan was charged with the murder of a federal agent. If he is convicted, he could face life in federal prison.

The FBI is leading the shooting investigation.

Detective Greg Ferency was a 30 year veteran of the department, according to Terre Haute police. He has also been a member of an FBI Task Force since 2010.
