Two Huntertown juveniles injured in off-road vehicle accident

HUNTERTOWN – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident that injured two juvenile females Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 2:54 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of the 17000 block of Coldwater Road.

Preliminary investigation showed that the two juvenile females were operating a side-by-side ORV on private property when the operator lost control, causing the vehicle to roll. Neither the juvenile operator nor the passenger was wearing a helmet, safety gear, or any type of seatbelt or safety harness at the time of the accident.

Both juveniles were transported by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Conservation Officers remind everyone that state law requires anyone under 18 years old operating or riding on an off-road vehicle (ORV) to wear a DOT-approved helmet. It is also a violation of the law to permit a person younger than 18 to operate an ORV without wearing a DOT-approved helmet.

Conservation Officers were assisted on scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and Huntertown EMS.
