Bedford man arrested after causing a disturbance at Casey’s General Store

OOLITIC – A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday after an Oolitic Town Marshal was called to Casey’s General Store after a report of a disruptive customer.

Jeremy Morris

When police arrived they found 42-year-old Jeremy Morris in the parking lot causing a disturbance.

A Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy arrived on the scene to assist.

Police say Morris was intoxicated and reeked of alcohol. He was also armed with two knives. He immediately became argumentative with officers.

An officer attempted to handcuff Morris and he pulled away from the Oolitic marshal. He then grabbed onto the tailgate of his pickup truck and officers had to take him to the ground where he was placed in handcuffs.

Employees at the store told officers Morris had been in the store at least three times and yelled at employees in front of customers, before police arrived. An employee was able to talk Morris into leaving the store.

Once in custody, Morris continued to argue and be uncooperative. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident.

Morris was arrested on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting law enforcement.
