Hoffman has published over 100 articles and book chapters, as well as 18 books which have been translated into five languages. We will explore the limitations of the academic reward system and the importance of scholarly engagement in the public sphere.  How should scholars use social media?  Why is getting academic research out to the public a critical goal? How does research impact society, and what are the future trends?

Michael Crow, the sixteenth president of Arizona State University, is an educator, knowledge enterprise architect, science and technology policy scholar, and author of books and articles analyzing the design of higher education institutions and systems.
