Updated – Vincennes woman dies from injures in a single-vehicle crash on State Road 61

KNOX CO. – Paula Kordes, 55, of Vincennes, has died from her injuries after a single-vehicle crash on State Road 61 on Sunday night, May 23.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office is now assisting in the investigation.

Sunday, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Indiana State Police and Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident on State Road 61 west of Monroe City that critically injured a Vincennes woman.

According to an Indiana State Police report, 55-year-old Paula Kordes, of Vincennes, was driving a 1987 Oldsmobile westbound on State Road 61 near Mt. Zion Road, when for an unknown reason her vehicle left the roadway on the north side, struck the ditch, overturned, and came to a stop on its top.

Kordes was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes but was later airlifted to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville where she is currently listed in critical condition.
