Two-vehicle crash claims a life in White County

WHITE CO. – Friday around 8:30 p.m., White County Sheriff’s Department, Brookston Police Department, and Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 18 near County Road 150 East.

According to a preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police, a 2009 Nissan Maxima driven by 30-year-old Aaron Jackson, of Brookston, was traveling westbound on State Road 18 and crossed the center line for an unknown reason. At that time, a 2018 Ford Escape was traveling Eastbound on State road 18 and was struck head-on by the Nissan.

A Brookston Town Marshal arrived on the scene and began to render aid. Despite lifesaving efforts, Jackson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Ford were transported by EMS to a Lafayette area hospital. Their condition and identities are being withheld pending proper notification to their next of kin.

Probationary Trooper McKinney was assisted on scene by troopers from the Lafayette Post, White County Sheriff’s Department, Brookston Police Department, White County Coroner, Brookston First Responders, Monticello Fire Department, Tippecanoe County EMS, and Farney’s Towing.

The investigation is ongoing.
