Seymour Police arrest three on drug charges

SEYMOUR – Officers with the Seymour Police Department were led to a residence in the 800 block of Garden Avenue today, as officers have been investigating a possible criminal recklessness with a vehicle incident that occurred on Sunday, April 25.

When officers arrived at the residence in the 800 block of Garden Ave., they detected the odor of burning marijuana.

As a result, they requested a warrant from Jackson Superior Court 2.

During the search of the residence, officers and investigators located approximately 22 ounces of marijuana, more than 300 THC vape cartridges, drug paraphernalia, three handguns and more than $2,000.00 in cash. The street value of the marijuana and the THC vape cartridges seized is estimated to be more than $16,000.

Officers arrested 43-year-old David Brooks, of Seymour, on charges of neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony, possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Tristain Brooks, of Seymour, on charges of dealing in marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia a class A misdemeanor.

Officers arrested a 17-year-old male, of Seymour for dealing in marijuana a Class A misdemeanor and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

All three suspects were transported to the Jackson County Jail and turned over to the Jail Division.

Additional arrests are expected. The incident involving criminal recklessness with a vehicle is still under investigation.
