Robert “Bob” Joseph Kostin

July 30, 1951 – April 7, 2021

Robert “Bob” Joseph Kostin, 69, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his residence.  He was born July 30, 1951 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Marilynn J. (McDaniel) and George T. Kostin.  He married Rita “Kathleen” Byrne on August 30, 1975 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Shively, Kentucky.  He earned an associate’s degree from Watterson College in Louisville, Kentucky and had worked in data processing at the Naval Ordinance Station in Louisville and for NSWC Crane.

Surviving Bob are his wife, Kathleen; children, Colleen (Daniel) Mooney, Laura Hall, Angela (Nathan) Childers, Nicholas (Amanda) Kostin and Jaclyn (Joe) Harvie; grandchildren, Mason Mooney, Aiden Hall, Addison Hall, Emma Childers, Noah Childers, Harrison Kostin, Lincoln Kostin and Alexis Harvie; brothers, George (Judy) Kostin and Rick (Lorrie) Kostin; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceeded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Edward Kostin.

Bob was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #1166, where he was past Grand Knight, Assembly Fourth Degree, Faithful Navigator, District Deputy, Bingo Chairman, Red Cross Blood Drive Chair, Hall Manager and Gibault School Envoy.  He was very involved in the Cursillo Movement, serving as Louisville Secretariat, Coordinator of Region 4, National Secretariat and World Secretariat.  He served as Vice President of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Call Taker.  Bob was on the L.I.F.E. Board of Directors, Hope Resource Center as President of the Board of Directors and involved in the Limestone Ladle. 

Services for Bob will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Stuempel, Fr. Jegan Peter, and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford.  A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 12th at Ferguson-Lee Chapel. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Hope Resource Center, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and L.I.F.E. Food Pantry.
