Two people arrested on drug charges in Dale

SPENCER CO. – On Saturday, an Indiana State Police Jasper Post All Crimes Policing Team and Spencer County Sheriff Department deputies, conducted a criminal interdiction patrol in northern Spencer County.

Dennis Sipes II

A deputy stopped a white 1999 Pontiac passenger car in Dale, which officers had received information that the driver, 39-year-old Dennis Sipes II, of Shoals was a habitual traffic violator with a lifetime suspension.

During the traffic stop officers located meth on Spires.

Investigators became suspicious that Sipes may be involved in drug activity at that Baymont hotel in Dale.

Spires was arrested and transported to the Spencer County Jail on a charge of possession of meth and driving a vehicle while being a habitual offender.

Kaci Newport

Investigators then went to the hotel and found 27-year-old Kaci Newport and her juvenile daughter who was staying with Sipes.

Troopers discovered Newport was in possession of illegal narcotics and she was arrested.

Police found meth and marijuana.

During further investigation, it was determined that the drugs also belonged to Sipes. Newport was then transported to the Spencer County Jail.

The Indiana Department of Child Services was called to assist with the child.

Sipes was then charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Newport faces charges of possession of meth, neglect of a dependent, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
