One injured in accident at O and 10th streets

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was injured when she crashed her vehicle into a utility pole at the intersection of O and 10th streets Wednesday afternoon.

The accident was reported at 4:25 p.m.

According to a Bedford Police Department report, when officers arrived they found a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse partially off the roadway and resting against the utility pole.

The vehicle had side and front end damage.

Police said the damage was consistent with the car swiping the bridge concrete wall before running off the road and striking the utility pole.

An officer spoke with the driver, 79-year-old Brenda Yeary , who seemed very confused and could not explain to police what occurred.

Yeary did state she was feeling nauseous but was fine. She did suffer abrasions to her elbow and lower arm. An IU Health Hospital ambulance arrived on the scene and medically evaluated Yeary. She refused to be transported to the hospital.

Officers contacted the woman’s family and they arrived on the scene to provide her assistance.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
