Ray Butler

March 1, 1947 – March 27, 2021

Ray Butler, 74, of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 1, 1947, in Heltonville, he was the son of Bruce Dunlap and Nora Edith (Crabb) Butler.  He married Dixie Lee Mayden August 6, 1984, and she preceded him in death April 28, 2007.

Ray had been a mechanic all of his life and retired from Hubler Chevrolet Buick GMC.  He was a member of the First Church of God and loved the Lord and his church family.

Ray graduated from Heltonville High School in 1965. He enjoyed his animals, gardening, and riding his Harley.

Ray was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his daughter, Bambi Aliano of Bedford; siblings, Bessie George of Venice, Florida, Ethen Jensen of Austin, Minnesota, Cindy Buckles of Edmore, Michigan and Nancy Weaver of Richland

His parents; wife; grandson, Chase Tanner Aliano; and siblings, Ralph Arnold Butler, Wilma Nevitt, and Paul Eugene Butler, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Dr. Robert C. Courson, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No.250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
