Two injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday

FAYETTEVILLE – Two people were injured when a vehicle and motorcycle collided at the intersection of State Road 158 and State Road 458 Sunday afternoon.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies and an IU Health Hospital ambulance and Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department first responders were alerted to the accident at 2:19 p.m.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 81-year-old Robert Vance, of Bedford, who was traveling south on State Road 458 had stopped his 2004 Ford at a stop sign and didn’t see the approaching Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling west on State Road 158.

Police say Vance turned east onto State Road 158 into the path of the motorcycle driven by 61-year-old Donald Jones, also of Bedford.

Police say Jones had the right of way.

Jones suffered minor abrasions to his arm and hand. His passenger 49-year-old Autumn Jones, of Bedford, suffered an injury to her left knee and foot. She was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.

Vance refused medical treatment at the scene.
