West Baden Man Sentenced to Prison on Possession of Child Pornography Charges

(BEDFORD) – A West Baden man was sentenced to seven years in prison on three counts of possession of child pornography Monday.

Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge John Plummer III sentenced Devin Main to seven years in the Department of Corrections. Main was given credit for four days served.

Prosecuting the case for the state was  Deputy Prosecutor Allison Chopra. Main was represented by Attorney Sam Shapiro.

According to court documents, Main was arrested after a Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator went to the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility on April 4, 2019, to speak to Main about a child pornography investigation. Main requested his lawyer be present before answering any questioning.

Main admitted to downloading over 200 videos of child pornography on his phone. He denied having any photos of children. He told police he downloaded the videos for a girl he knew, but refused to provide the investigator with the girl’s name.

A warrant was issued for Main’s arrest on July 25, 2019. Main was charged with 13 counts of possession of child pornography with an aggravating factor and five counts of possession of child pornography.

On August 13, 2020, Main pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of child pornography in a negotiated plea deal and all other charges were dropped.
