Lawrence County Resident Is New Probationary Trooper Assigned to Jasper Post

(JASPER) – A Lawrence County resident is a new probationary trooper assisted to the Jasper Indiana State Police Post.

Probationary Trooper Tyler Trueblood is one of 36 probationary troopers who graduated from the 80th Indiana State Police Academy on December 19, 2020.

Trueblood along with Probationary Trooper Jacob Lauer is assigned to the Indiana State Police in Jasper.

Probationary troopers now begin their next phase of instruction, a three-month field training period riding with veteran troopers. Field training aims to give a practical application to the training received throughout the formal academy.

Upon completing field training, the troopers will be assigned a state police patrol vehicle and begin solo patrol. These officers have already completed over 1,200 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques and hands-on scenario-based training at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.

Their curriculum included criminal law instruction, emergency vehicle operations, psychology, traffic law, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder, and other general enforcement related training.

Probationary Trooper Tyler Trueblood, a native of Lawrence County, Indiana, is a 2005 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. Trueblood served as a Lawrence County Sheriffs Deputy and as a member of the Army National Guard. Trueblood and his two sons reside in Lawrence County.

Probationary Trooper Jacob Lauer, a native of Spencer County, Indiana, is a 2010 graduate of South Spencer High School. Lauer furthered his education by attending Ivy Tech where he received an associate degree in Criminal Justice. Lauer served as a Spencer County Sheriffs Deputy and as a volunteer with the Luce Fire Territory in Spencer County. Lauer and his wife reside in Spencer County.

District Commander Lieutenant, Jason Allen, stated that he is very excited to get two additional troopers to the Jasper District.  

Upon completion of field training, Trueblood and Lauer will be assigned patrol duties in the Jasper District.
