Koch To Chair Senate Committee On Utilities

( STATEHOUSE) – State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to chair the Senate Committee on Utilities for the 122nd Indiana General Assembly.

The committee’s jurisdiction includes energy, electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications. ­

Sen. Koch will also serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and the Senate Committee on Commerce and Technology and as a member of the Senate Committees on Corrections and Criminal LawElections; and Family and Children Services.

The 2021 legislative session ceremonially began with Organization Day on November 17. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene for the session on January 4.

Sen. Koch holds a graduate certificate in Energy Policy Planning from the University of Idaho. He serves as co-chair of the Energy Supply Task Force of the National Conference of State Legislatures, as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Council on Electricity Policy, and as a member of the Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer Advisory Committee. He focuses on energy, water and telecommunications policy interactions in Indiana and nationally. Sen.
