Bedford Teen Arrested After Stealing Cell Phone, Running Away

(BEDFORD) – A 15-year-old male was arrested Monday afternoon after his mother came to the Bedford Police Department to report her son had run away.

“The last time she saw her son was Monday morning,” said Chief Terry Moore. “She also said her son had taken her husband’s cell phone.”

Several minutes later, an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle parked at the Bedford Public Library that matched a vehicle the boy could be in.

The officer found the 15-year-old inside the vehicle.

“The juvenile was taken into custody and officers located the stolen cell phone, paraphernalia, and marijuana,” said Chief Moore. “Probation was contacted and requested officers release the juvenile back to his parents with a signed promise to appear.

The teen is facing charges of theft, runaway, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
