Obituary: Lesta Pearl Blake

December 9, 1932 – November 13, 2020

Lesta Pearl Blake, 87, of Bedford, passed away at 4:55 am on Friday, November 13, 2020 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born December 9, 1932, in Monroe Co., she was the daughter of Byral and Berlie (Fleetwood) East. She married Richard Blake on December 13, 1952 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2005. She was a group leader at RCA for over 40 years. She was a member of the Guthrie Christian Church and previously a member of the Hunter’s Creek Pentecostal Church and Smithville Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters Pam Burton, of Bedford, Patti Eads and husband, Roger, of Oolitic; a son, Danny Blake and wife, Mary, of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Mark Cain, Chris Cain, Greg Burton, Roger Burton, Robyn Chilton, Jason Eads, Steve Blake, Kevin Blake and Brian Blake; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Scoggans and husband, Kenny and Resa Sowders, all of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Grace Page, Emma Axsom and Dona Edith East (in infancy); a brother,
Virgil East; a son-in-law, Larry Burton.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16th at the Mitchell Cemetery in Monroe Co. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
