(BEDFORD) – One person was injured in a traffic accident on State Road 37 near Old U.S. 50 West on Sunday morning.
The 911 call reporting the accident came in around 11:32 a.m.
According to the Lawrence County Police Department accident report, 40-year-old Montgomery S. Turner, of Mitchell, was traveling northbound on State Road 37 in a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Police believe he was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.
The vehicle went over an embankment and collided with a street sign. Turner is reported to have taken a number of prescription medications and may have suffered a medical condition prior to the accident.
Turner was taken by IU Health Ambulance to IU Health Hospital, Bedford where he submitted to a blood-draw.
The accident was reported by a witness who stated the driver nearly struck his vehicle in addition to three other motorcycles.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department, and IU Health Ambulance Service responded to the accident.
