Woman Arrested For Dealing Meth

(BEDFORD) – A woman was arrested Saturday night after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy responded to a report of a suspicious woman in a vehicle at Speedway.

Police arrested 25-year-old Megan Tipton on charges of dealing meth, possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a synthetic drug.

According to a probable cause affidavit, at 9:54 p.m. a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy responded to Speedway at the intersection of US 50 West and State Road 37 after an employee received several complaints from customers about a woman sitting in a red car by the ice machines.

When police arrived at 9:54 p.m. and approached a maroon Ford Taurus they found Tipton in the driver’s seat. However the license plate for the vehicle was for a 2009 Buick.

Police also learned Tipton’s license was suspended.

Tipton told police she didn’t know why anyone would call the police on her. That she had pulled into the station lot to look up an address on her phone. She then told police she was traveling to Johnny Junxion to meet her mother. She told police she had only been at the station for about 10 minutes and had never gotten out of her vehicle while at Speedway.

She told police she was in the process of moving to Indianapolis to live with her mom and that she was currently living with an ex-boyfriend Scott Pendley and the vehicle belonged to him.

Officers asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and Tipton said no. She then allowed officer to search her vehicle.

Police found a zip lock bag containing 7 grams of marijuana, multiple syringes, spoons, two bags of meth which contained a total of 45 grams, a scale, grinder, 14 grams of synthetic cannabis.

Tipton told police the items did not belong to her.

The vehicle was towed by Knowles Wrecking Service to their wrecking yard, with no hold.
