IDEM And Indiana Partners For Pollution Prevention To Host 23rd Annual Pollution Prevention Conference

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention are hosting the 23rd annual Pollution Prevention (P2) Conference and Trade Show virtually on Sept. 16 and 17, 2020. The theme of this year’s conference is “Small Changes = Big Impacts.”

The two-day virtual conference has breakout sessions that cover a variety of topics, including new and innovative pollution prevention technologies and how pollution prevention can save companies money. The Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence will be presented to the winners by IDEM Commissioner Bruno Pigott. The conference also features a virtual trade show of exhibitors displaying products and services that promote pollution prevention.

“The annual P2 conference is a great way for organizations across Indiana to come together and share their pollution prevention strategies,” said Commissioner Pigott. “Some of Indiana’s most innovative companies attend each year and it is an opportunity for Hoosier businesses to learn from each other.”

“This conference is our biggest event of the year,” said Executive Director of the Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention Ben McKnight. “We encourage all Indiana businesses, big and small, to register and join us for this educational and collaborative opportunity.”

This year’s conference keynote speaker is Business Sustainability Consultant Jean Waters [PDF]. Waters has more than 25 years of experience assisting businesses in pollution prevention, sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste-prevention efforts. Waters has worked for the Nebraska Business Development Center, the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange national network, and served as director for the Pollution Prevention Institute at Kansas State University. She has a Master of Science in chemical engineering and is an Economic Development Finance Professional.

Additionally, continuing education credits are available to conference attendees. Certificates of Attendance will be provided for those who also want to use this conference for credit toward Professional Certifications, such as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
