COLUMBUS – Bedford North Lawrence swept the singles while recording a tense 3-2 victory over Columbus East during boys high school tennis action on Monday afternoon.
Adam Tlustek won a three-set duel at No.1 singles to pace the Stars (3-3).
Tlustek battled through two tiebreakers before finally disposing of Pranau Kumar 7-6 (7-4 in the first tiebreaker), 6-7 (5-7 in the next tiebreaker), 6-4.
The Stars had much easier paths in the lower singles as Steven Graham bounced Danny Murphy 6-1, 6-1 at No.2, while Graham Turner topped Emmitt Romine 6-3, 6-1 at No.3.
The Olympians (0-2) reversed the outcome in doubles as Derek Heideman and Matthew Degner fought off KonleyWoodward and Cameron Gratzer 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 at No.1. Erik Takahashi and Carlos Fernandez edged Nate Pemberton and Caleb Jones 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No.2
The Stars will host Jennings County on Tuesday.
