Jim Deckard To Run For North Lawrence Community School Board Seat

(BEDFORD) – Jim Deckard has filed to run for the North Lawrence Community School board seat.

Deckard has released the following statement:

Deckard was born and raised in Lawrence County and graduated from the NLCS.

Deckard attended Oakland City University as well as Ivy Tech Community College with courses in business management and building trades.

Deckard’s career included, a commercial diver underwater welder for the Navy and has more than 20 years’ experience managing and owning 4 local businesses.

He currently owns Deckard Construction, LLC, Deckard Properties, LLC, Elite Home Health Care, LLC, and Elite Personal Care, LLC. He employs approximately 100 people across his four local businesses.

“I am running to create new policies, update necessary infrastructure and technology, and to be forthcoming to the taxpayers about needed change and ways to be more fiscally responsible with their tax dollars,” said Deckard. “With all that has transpired within the NLCS the last few years I strongly feel that the time for change is now. I strongly opposed the mass school closings and the detriment it has caused in our community.”

Deckard says he will ensure that the voice of the taxpayers, parents, teachers, and children are heard.

“I will put in the necessary time and commitment to put NLCS back on the right path to success and ensure our children’s needs are put first,” he added. “I believe my experiences owning and managing multiple businesses will prove to be unparalleled to this endeavor. I am a hard-working individual who expects the same from my employees.”

“I hold myself and my employees accountable for their actions in my businesses and that’s why I have been able to be successful for so long,” said Deckard. “I intend to hold NLCS executives and personnel accountable as well and I would want information provided to me as quickly as possible so I could research any major decisions that arise. I do not plan to ever assume that something is true without looking into the matter myself and discussing it with the necessary parties.”

“I value the outpouring of support that I have received thus far. I look forward to this journey towards November and speaking with many of you along the way. I welcome the opportunity to make positive necessary changes for the present and the future of NLCS. I would greatly appreciate your vote,” said Deckard.
