8-Year-Old Facing Criminal Charges After Damaging Trampoline

(BEDFORD) – An 8-year-old boy is facing criminal charges after Bedford Police officers were requested to a home in the 1200 block of U Street Tuesday afternoon.

Officers spoke with two witnesses. One witness said he saw a young juvenile male moving his body as though he was punching at the trampoline and then walk away.

Later a knife was found in one of the witnesses’ yards.

The witnesses described the young male and the victim identified him as a neighbor and requested to file charges.

“Officers went to speak with the parents and the boy but were told by the parents the juvenile wasn’t home,” said Chief Terry Moore. “Shortly after finishing the report the parents and the juvenile arrived at Bedford Police Department. The juvenile admitted to causing the damage and was given a promise to appear on a charge of criminal mischief by the request of juvenile probation.”
