Two Injured In Accident On State Road 37 And Old State Road 37

(BEDFORD) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning at State Road 37 and Old State Road 37.

When Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department officers arrived they found a 2013 Jeep Compass on the southside shoulder of the road. The vehicle had heavy damage to the rear.

A second vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Express Frontier North work van, was parked at the stoplight at the intersection and had heavy front end damage.

The driver of the van, 43-year-old William Tyre, of Lafayette, told police he was traveling south on State Road 37 and believed the stoplight was a green light, but then the accident happened and he looked up the light had turned red.

Police say the van collided into the rear of the Jeep, driven by 77-year-old Herbert Clay, of Morgantown.

Clay complained of neck and leg pain. Her passenger, 72-year-old Stephen Lagenour, of Odon, complained of neck pain. Both were taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Tyre was not injured.

Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
