Hoosier National Forest To Temporarily Close Sections Of Birdseye Trail

(UNDATED) – The USDA Forest Service has temporarily closed several sections of the Birdseye Trail in Dubois and Crawford counties for visitor safety during forest management activities in the area.

Birdseye Trail

The northeast section closed is between South Riceville Road and West County Road 114 North.  The southern section closed is between Mitchell Creek Road and the northernmost connection with Birdseye Loop.

The rest of the Birdseye Trail remains open.

It is recommended that visitors check the Birdseye Trail page of the Forest website (https://go.usa.gov/xwvG7 ) for maps and updates prior to visiting or call 812-547-9051.

Forest management activities are focused on the removal of non-native pine in the area to promote restoration of native hardwoods, and the creation of critical young forest habitat for wildlife that depends on those conditions.

Please use caution and pay attention to your surroundings while you enjoy recreation on the Hoosier National Forest. For up-to-date information on the Hoosier National Forest, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/hoosier , and https://www.facebook.com/HoosierNF.
