(WASHINGTON) – Two bills previously introduced by Rep. Jim Banks, House Armed Services Committee member, will be included in the RSC Foreign Affairs Task Force’s report, “RSC National Security Strategy: Strengthening America and Countering Global Threats.”
The report, released at noon today, is intended to serve as a massive legislative proposal intending to reassert Republican leadership on the foreign policy stage.
“This report provides a blueprint for a stable 21st-century order, led by an independent United States and committed to peace. It also shows why the RSC remains the most substantive and important forum for conservative legislative initiatives,” said Rep. Jim Banks. “I’m thankful for the hard work of the RSC’s staff and the many thoughtful contributions from RSC members. I look forward to working with both groups to turn these worthwhile proposals into legislative reality.”

Rep. Banks’ two bills included in the task force report include:
- H.R.1678 – Protect Our Universities Act of 2019
- Requires students from adversarial nations to receive a waiver from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to participate in sensitive research projects and prohibits the use of technologies that pose a national security risk for such projects.
- H.R. 3997 – Safe Career Transitions for National Security Professionals
- Restricts the ability of national security professionals to work for certain foreign-government backed organizations for five years after a position which required a security clearance.
