Orleans Fire Department Taking Extra Precautions During COVID-19 Outbreak

(ORLEANS) – Firefighters and first responders from the Orleans Fire Department are encouraging everyone to continue to follow the CDC’s recommendations concerning the COVID-19 outbreak.

“As many of you already know, this virus, as we speak, is affecting our county and our state,” said Orleans Fire Department Chief Ronald Roach. “It is imperative that everyone do their part to stop the spread of this awful virus. Orleans Fire, along with every department in the county, has taken extra precautions in regard to how we conduct business.”

If first responders have to enter your home for a medical run, you will notice a change in their apparel. First responders will be wearing gowns, masks, gloves, and safety glasses.

They are decontaminating with alcohol wipes after every run.

First responders ask that everyone please practice social distancing as to not pass the virus from person to person.

“We hope that this is only for a season, and for things to be back to normal soon,” Chief Roach added. “We can’t stress enough how important it is for everyone to do their part, and to stay home unless absolutely necessary! As always, if you know of anyone in need of food, please do not hesitate to call and ask for assistance. We will gladly run to the store and deliver groceries to you. Thank you all.”
