Rural Transit to Help with Prescription and Grocery Deliveries

(UNDATED) – Beginning immediately, Area 10’s Rural Transit will be taking calls and appointments for prescription and grocery deliveries in all four service counties: Monroe, Owen, Putnam and Lawrence counties.

These are no-person trips to coordinate getting necessary supplies to home-bound individuals.

Rural Transit received authorization from FTA/INDOT today to provide this service. Reminder, for Monroe County, these must be from inside city limits delivered outside city limits to qualify, not city to city.

Area 10’s Rural Transit drivers are ready to hit the road and pick up needed supplies for people immediately. Though the regular charge is $3 each way for riders, right now, it’s free.

Area 10 Rural Transit will not charge the individual for this service. Donations will be accepted and encouraged.

To schedule this service, an individual must call their county’s Rural Transit office.
