Two Injured in Accident

(BEDFORD) – Two people were injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle accident at 11:19 a.m. on Groundhog Road near West Powerline Road.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department police report, 16-year-old Isabellan Lutgens, of Bedford, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup north on Groundhog Road, just north of West Powerline Road, at an unsafe speed on the gravel road.

Police say Lutgen could not maintain control of the pickup. The truck traveled off the west side of the roadway and hit loose, wet, dirt on the side of the road and rolled over.

Lutgens and her passenger, 14-year-old Natasha Lutgen, also of Bedford, suffered minor cuts to their faces and heads.

Both were treated at the scene by an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew and then transported to a local hospital by a family member.

The vehicle was towed from the scene due to extensive damage.Â
