Secretary Perdue to Announce New USDA Innovation Initiative at USDA’s Ag Outlook Forum

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will announce a new, department-wide initiative regarding sustainability, productivity, and innovation.

Following the Secretary’s presentation, he will participate in a fireside chat with John Hartnett, Founder and CEO of SVG Ventures-THRIVE, and host a press conference.

On Friday, Secretary Perdue will host agricultural leaders from key Western Hemisphere countries. Joining Secretary Perdue at the February 21st plenary session, titled “Feeding the World through Innovation,” will be Argentina’s Minister for Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Luis Basterra, Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Mexico’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development Victor Villalobos.

They will discuss cooperative approaches to promoting agricultural innovation and global trade as foundations of global food security.
