Stars Finish 7th in Bo Henry

BNL’s Gunner Connaughton finished second at 195 pounds during the Bob Henry Classic at Bloomington North on Saturday.

(BLOOMINGTON) – Bedford North Lawrence wrestlers finished second in three weight classes during the annual Bo Henry Classic at Bloomington North on Saturday.

The Stars finished seventh in the team standings with 103 points. Terre Haute North was the champion in the eight-team field with 217.

BNL’s Drake Huber was the runner-up at 170 pounds. He defeated Bloomington North’s Judson Gavin in 3:58 in the semifinal, then fell to Castle’s Robert Deters in 23 seconds in the final.

Gunner Connaughton was second at 195 as he stopped Paoli’s Emmett Dunn 4-2 in the semifinal, then was pinned by Jasper’s Ashton Schuetter in 3:04 in the final.

BNL’s James Covey was second at 220. He opened with a pin of North’s Isaiah White in 2:47, then conquered Castle’s Jason Palamarchk 7-0 in the semifinal. Jasper’s Will Collon clipped Covey 2-1 in the championship match.

BNL’s Derek Hutchens was third at 132 as he posted three wins, topping Owen Valley’s Connor Rogers (0:49), North’s Alex Guy (2:09) and Paoli’s Brycen Long (1:22).

The Stars will return to action in a dual match at Mitchell on Jan. 9.
